In this project, I was hoping to create a spoof of Time magazine, putting a third eye onto a person showing that an openness in mind is important. I created this image because I feel everyone could use a little perspective, and sometimes we do not see what others see. I changed the name to Lyme magazine because of course it is a lie, and it rhymes with time.
First, I started with the border of the magazine, using the rectangle tool to draw green rectangles of equal width around the border. Then I used the type tool to create my title, LYME, and centered the title. I edited the spacing of the letters so they looked even, pleasing the eye. The secondary titles were created with different font and sizing. I used a photo of a boy, and the magnetic lasso to cut out his image from the black background. Then using the eraser, I touched up the image to get rid of the black edge. To extend his shirt to the edge of the page, I used the clone stamp tool to clone the pattern on his shirt all the way to the border. Next, the image was then cut out to fit the border with the rectangle marquee tool. "Hair" was added via the brush tool by matching the color with the eyedropper, then brushing the hairs in with an opacity of about 50%. Next, the left eye was cut and copied using the rectangle marquee tool. To make the eye seem real, I used the eraser, blur, and smudge tool to match the skin tone of the forehead with the tone of the skin surrounding the eye. After that, the layer was duplicated and I cut out the iris and pupil using the circle marquee tool. With the new layer, I edited the color with a inner glow of rainbow and played with the settings to give the eye a radial rainbow. Since this discolored the whole circle, I erased the bottom up until the eye looked right. This worked because of the duplicated layer stated earlier. The pupil was not the color I wanted it to be, so the brush tool was used on a new layer just to throw in a black dot. I then created a lime using the pen tool in the form of "shape" and added color to the image. The lime was incomplete, so white "citrus" was added with the brush tool with the color of white. This completed the image.
