For this piece, I started by using an image of a traffic light I found on Google. First, I tilted the picture to orient the light straight up and down. Using the square marquee tool, I selected one of the traffic lights and used the color mixer adjustment to make the traffic light have a green tint. After that I selected the green light with the circle marquee tool and made a new layer via copy. Then using the magnetic lasso tool, the rim of the second light down was selected and copied as well. I flipped this image vertically and repositioned it half way down the middle of the second light. I then proceeded to colorize the image and complete it with the paintbrush, matching values from the two rims. After this, I played around with the colors of the light copied earlier to get a white traffic light signal. Positioning this under the "eyelid", I erased the part that would be covered. The "iris" was selected with the magnetic lasso as well, and it was recolored to blue using the color adjustments. I then colored in the pupil with the paintbrush with black. I then recopied the light layer and posed it over the top light. I changed the colors of the outer rim of the light to green, and then the inner color to pink. Then I applied a noise filter to the pink light and painted a few dark a few to create "seeds". After I was done with the image, I retouched and erased a few stray marks. This retouching completed the image.
I chose this photo because I thought a rectangular shape would be easy to use the rectangle marquee on. I then got ideas as I went along.

Tutorial (Blog #2)
Here I am attempting the flame effect in photoshop(http://www.worth1000.com/tutorials/163536/fire)
First I started with the picture of the statue, then I pasted the flame on top and applied the screen blending mode to erase the background. From there, I repositioned the flame to look as if it was in line with the torch. With the grate around the torch, I had to brush in orange, pink and yellow because the flame looked as if it did not exist behind the grate:
From there, I added the ash sparks and fixed up some of the random marks around the edges. The grate was painted in were it had been erased, the real "torch" was painted over with the blue from the background:
To finish, I color corrected the image unlike the tutorial to give the photo a night look. Then, I used a light paint brush to add in a few stars for effect:
Thus the final image:

Carbine is a designer from Indonesia that designs t-shirts for a website called 'Design by Humans'. For most of his work he uses Photoshop, Illustrator, ad other visual manipulation software. Here are a few designs by this artist:
Here, the denotations are the half leaf and half tree, with two birds mingling in with the tree. The connotations of the image include the leaf as being part of the tree showing that the small is part of the whole. Also the one side shows life and the other 'rest' or 'death', but within this are the birds. This implies the rebirth, and that life will go on in a continuous cycle.

This next image shows a person in a suit wearing a helmet offering a suitcase that contains a white tree with two doves. This image denotes that the corporate side, the man in the business suit, may always offer life and purity. The purity and life comes from the white of the tree as well as the doves flocking together. We do not know if the man can be trusted because there is always a downside to profit, i.e. pollution.
